I am often asked a question by my startup clients
“What is the best way to promote my business, is it SEO or PPC?”
Well, in that case my answer is it depends.
There are many factors to consider, such as: time required, costs, setup and consumer trust etc.
These ain’t again satisfactory, right!!
So, we should understand the pros and cons of SEO and PPC.
What is SEO?
SEO, full form is Search Engine Optimization. It is an organic ranking method made by the search engines like Google, Bing as per your website’s content relevancy and popularity.
What is PPC?
PPC, full form is Pay Per Click. It is a paid ranking method made by search engines like Google, Bing as per advertisers place a maximum bid and compete against the bids of other advertisers for the same keyword.
|Time required||2-4 months||Immediately|
|Traffic||Need time to get traffic||Instant traffic|
|Setup||Need Expert to optimize||Can be setup by first time user|
|Consumer trust||Consumers trust organic rankings||Consumers usually consider these ads less trustworthy|
Examining all the angles, If you’re working with a small budget, PPC may not be feasible, so SEO is the obvious choice.
SEO is all about planting a seed and waiting for the tree to grow. It takes time to see organic results but your brand can be positioned well once you gain favorable rankings.
PPC, on the other hand, is all about an instant payoff. It needs a sizable budget to retain the best search result.
So if you’re a new startup with a very little budget, PPC may simply not be the best option to start with. But still do the organic keyword research and most importantly list your business on Google My Business to reach out more of your local customer.
